making a move

okay, i know it's been YEARS since i posted last, but those years have been full. full of new people, new jobs, new classrooms, and a marriage. also, there was a move. i moved to idaho with my new husband, rob.

i really enjoy it out here, but it sure is not a coastal town (which comes in handy with Hurricane Irene approaching in earnest). it's okay though, because there's a river, as well as a gorgeous mountain view from anywhere we're standing. i'll take it.

i do miss my partner in crime--my sister from a different mister--kathy jo. one of the two blue-eyed girls. she's been working her backside off these days as an incredibly talented and design-savvy wedding planner and coordinator. holy cow, she's fabulous.

so today, with a lot more time on my hands along with a bucketful of ideas from KJ, we're making a move with this blog once again. maybe she'll post some wedding visions and views for us and i'll be putting on some fun things to see. i've been getting loads of ideas and getting a little nerve to try them. we'll post as material comes about. as we work, we'll connect the Right Coast to the Wild West. can't wait to see what happens!

stay tuned.

happy leap year

here's a fun cocktail for leap year! i'm a little late with it, but ran out of time to post it yesterday. we had a fun leap year party, which i've always wanted to do and finally have a friend fun enough to partake in these things with. we discussed renaming it every couple of holidays so we could drink it more than every four years...

here goes (and i promise it's better than it sounds):

the leap year cocktail
2 oz. ounces gin
1/2 oz. grand marnier
1/2 oz. sweet vermouth
1/4 oz. fresh lemon juice
1 lemon slice
for garnish
Stir and strain into a chilled cocktail glass and add the lemon slice. ENJOY!

happy new year!

ahh, resolutions. this, folks, is one of mine. i definitely promised myself i'd commit to the usual exercising & running more, but weather and a final succumbing to bronchitis and a sinus infection have put that on the back burner-right behind the perpetually whistling tea kettle & ginger lemon twinings. i'm forced, then, to address a different resolution straight away, before i let them all go and am left wondering what in the world i've done with the time.

so here you have the beginnings of it. i've resolved to get started on a project kathy jo and i have been threatening to undertake for almost two years: two blue eyed girls.

kathy jo is one of my greatest and most fun friends. we've worked, traveled, lived, fished, gone through messes, learned, and laughed together. the two of us have had ideas and thoughts and creative moments that we've written on scraps of paper, taken pictures of, said out loud, laughed about, nodded thoughtfully at and endlessly chatted about. but not done much to actually get really going.

i told myself that i'd have to do my end of things to get it going. there's no reason we shouldn't do this, or couldn't do this, so here we go. tune in again, and often. we're going to have lots of goodies for you to see, love, and want. purses, picture frames, stationery, photography, and lots of other fun things for you to feather your nest. we like to surf and to fish and to shuck a few oysters. we like the beach and the palmettos, lovely shades of lime green and sky blue, and signature cocktails. we also like fun and quirky, with a little sass. we hope to pass it all on to you.

visit again, and see what we've got for y'all. it'll be fun!
